One thing I read ages ago was that omegas in the proper proportion helped ear wax to stay in balance. What I mean is, when I miss this stuff, I get ear wax build up and have some trouble hearing because the omegas seem to really keep that part of the body in balance. When I don't have my omegas such as this product, I have to start using earwax remover and warm water in my ears to keep my ears open. As soon as I start using this, the problem goes away and I don't even have to think about such. Cod liver oil does not help this earwax issue. I read about this solution ages ago and thought at that time it was a crazy idea, but then I tried it an obviously converted myself to the blessings of the omegas. I had read also that ground flaxseed was high in omegas and thought that would help, but no, this stuff is the product that really has the magic.
So yes it is gritty by itself. I add it to a whey protein drink that I use and I add a tablespoon of fermented soy protein powder that I also buy thru Amazon, so I am adding enough things into it for digestion. My whey protein powder is Hydrobuilder which I get thru Amazon also. So I never drink this hemp protein by itself, but I really love the benefits. The fiber is great and that keeps the colon running smooth.
It is also gluten free which is an issue for those of us concerned about wheat contamination issues which make it unfun. Highly recommend this hemp protein to anyone, just combine it with something else when you drink it. |

It mostly just floats to the bottom( like sand would) and i wont be purchasing this again. I suggest you don't either unless you love the taste of sand in your protein shake. I was told to expect my order within 5-8 business days and it took 2 weeks to simply ship it, and another 2 or 3 weeks for the product to arrive.
When I finally relieved the package, I did not like the product whatsoever, the only reason I haven't shipped it back is because of the terrible experience I had receiving the powder.
I've mixed this product into various drinks, all of which are overpowered by the hemp seed powder. Terrible, terrible taste. I still have it just because I don't want to throw it out. And I'll try and use as much of as I can bare simply because I don't want to waste it. |

As previous reviewers mentioned it doesn't leave you feeling bloated like whey protein. It does give a gritty texture to smoothies sometimes, but I notice that more when I make fruit smoothies, if you make a peanut butter/almond butter smoothie you don't really notice it. For the health benefits and low calories, I'm happy. I feel great after using it in my smoothie. My favorite recipe: 3/4 cup soymilk (chocolate or regular), 2-4 tablespoons of protein powder (your preference), 2 teaspoons raw cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, and 4 ice cubes. So good! Enjoy! |

If you are looking for high protein diet source, I am taking a Multi-Vitamin every day, eating MetRx meal replacement bars: Apple pie flavor washed down with a bottle of Slimfast for breakfast & again for Lunch. Drinking water & eating plain veggies as in between meal snacks followed by a light Dinner of less than 600 calories. I walk the track every other day & have managed to lose 14 pounds in 2 months without ever going to the gym.

A serving is 4 tablespoons for 13 grams of protein. Try to choke that down. That's about 5 grams of protein for a tablespoon. The recommended daily intake is 56 grams for most men and 46 for most women (more if you're active or body building).
I find I can mix about 1 Tablespoon with a banana. (The reviewer who says this tastes like bananas is bananas).
I can mix about 1 T. in a bowl of soup.
I can mix about 1 Tablespoon in a serving of yogurt.
This tastes horrible in Bob's Redmill Oats. It's making me hate my homemade yogurt. Tried it in hummus...did not make me happy. It's making foods that I love into foods that I'll eat because they have some chance of carrying hemp.
I find it difficult to eat 4 tablespoons of this daily. |

MAKES 6-8 TORTILLAS
1 cup white rice flour
1/3 cup potato starch
1/3 cup tapioca flour
1/3 cup fava bean flour
2 tsps xanthan gum
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp salt
2 TBs vegetable or other shortening
3/4 to 1 cup warm water
Combine all of the dry ingredients, then cut in or work in the shortening using a pastry blender or two knives or your hand.
Add the warm water, starting with 3/4 cup and mix well.
Continue to add water until a soft, cohesive dough is formed.
Heat a comal, tapa or griddle to medium heat. Then, form a ball of dough into a flattened disk, cupping the outside edges a bit to form a round.
Using a bollilo or rolling pin, roll into a round disk about 1/8 inch thick and about 8 inches in diameter or to your preference.
Bake one at a time on a hot griddle until the surface bubbles. Turn only once, the first side should have brown flecks.
Bake until the second side has slightly browned - should brown in a very short time.
Keep warm in a tortilla keeper or wrapped in a cloth until served.
Note: Will freeze in a sealed plastic bag for up to three months.

We added this to our emergency food supply (also in 5 gallon buckets) we keep stored in our basement. It is possible to eat this directly, grind it for flour, or even plant it to grow our own.

The wheat was very clean, without any trash or pebbles. I was able to put the wheat right in the grinder.
If you are interested in grinding your own wheat, and making 100% whole wheat bread, this wheat is an excellent option. I was able to get big fluffy loafs without the need for added gluten. It is less bitter than hard red wheat.
Overall, I could not be more pleased. Clean, makes great flour, and delicious bread. |
