230071230071B000WB1YSEA2W225SFTQNF3Nskacleve "skacleve"5651256947200This is my new favorite teaI've loved Japanese green tea my whole life and have not found one yet that tastes as good as this one at this price, except for cups of tea served in Japanese restaurants. A couple reviews here mentioned how it compares to gourmet green tea. I don't know what classifies a tea as gourmet, unless it's the price, and I don't know if I've ever had such a tea. But this Kirkland tea is so flavorful that I don't see why it matters whether it is gourmet class or not. It only matters that it tastes great, and it smells wonderful too. Even my spouse, who drank green tea only occasionally (and usually prefers Earl Grey), is thrilled with this tea and now drinks it almost every night. Don't worry about finding a better bargain. It's only 19 cents a bag through Amazon, so what difference does it make if you can get it a few pennies cheaper elsewhere? With such a great flavor, it's a bargain at almost any price.

This tea has a wonderful grassy flavor -- the mark of a good green tea -- that is missing in so many commercial brands, and even many Asian brands you find here (and the tea is actually green, which isn't the case with all "green" teas). Chinese green tea looks and tastes different from Japanese green tea -- less green and less grassy in flavor. The box says there is green tea powder added, which must be part of the reason for the rich flavor. The instructions say to add the excess powder inside the wrapper to your water. Generally, over-steeping green tea leaves it tasting bitter, but this one doesn't seem to get bitter when I do (any purist will tell you that adding sweetener or lemon to green tea is just not acceptable ;-).

Each teabag is individually wrapped in a plastic pouch. The teabags themselves are nylon, which is stronger than the usual paper and less likely to tear. I admit I am a bit conflicted about buying this tea because I love the flavor, but the environmentalist in me is disappointed the bags and wrappers are not biodegradable. I also wonder if I should be concerned that it's not organic, but I may never find out if it matters.
230072230072B000WB1YSEA2V9ULRWMX9WEJAnonymous2251335139200Great productThis is my "everyday" green tea. It is delicious and high quality.

It is cheaper if you buy it directly from costco, but, since I have neither a costco nearby nor a membership, this is still a great deal.

My only wish is that they packaged the bags in biodegradable paper, not plastic.
230073230073B000WB1YSEA2CBCBLD2PKDXLpancake fan2251329782400Price IncreaseI've never been much of a tea drinker so I don't feel as though I'm qualified to rate this product. I made some lifestyle changes a few years ago however, concerning my diet, and as I continue to learn and research I heard how good green tea and matcha are for you, so I started drinking this product. I always put fresh squeezed lemon and raw honey in my tea anyway so it always tastes great to me!

I simply wanted to remark that when I first ordered this product in Nov. 2011 it was 13 bucks, now its 22!! If you have a Costco membership or know someone that does you may want to explore the option of purchasing directly from the store. This product is not available through Costco's website as I've read that you can order from their website sans a membership for a small surcharge.
230074230074B000WB1YSEA1XAS1XF7LD72SPinky2241326153600Great TeaThis is a great tea with quality -- it's exact same taste in Japan. Unfortunately the tea bag is made for Japanese cup size, which is really small, thus you may have to put 2 tea bags to a mug. I like strong tea so I just have to put 2 tea bags.
230075230075B000WB1YSEA1D0DUE6TM0LTPMrSteveP2251320019200Go Green with this TeaHaving tried a multitude of loose & bagged green teas of all stripes and colors, this one is the winner by a landslide. I've had many cups of Matcha & Sencha but never together. That combination is a synergystic blend if there ever was one. The sencha/matcha combo is grassy and sweet at the same time. After a steep of 1 minute the tea turned a nice translucent emerald green color. It was also suggested to tap the empty foil wrapper over your cup to sprinkle the remaining matcha residue into your cup. The tea is invigorating, vegetal, grassy and slightly sweet.
I rate this amongst the best I have tried. Ito En is a well known Japanese company. I previously tried their bottled line of iced teas and the unsweetened green tea with mint was so very very good. It's worth buying this premium tea online. I have heard Costco stocks this under the Kirkland brand but I am not a member there so cannot confirm this.
230076230076B000WB1YSEAWTG5OU6DBFO7A. Rodamilans2251309219200Great for reducing tummy fat!I have been using this tea for a couple of years now. I first bought it for the low caffeine content and plus it tastes great. Over a few months of using this tea, I notice my belly fat started to disappear! Now I do exercise regularly and I am sure that helps. But I was NEVER able to loose my belly fat before I started using this wonderful tea. I highly recommend this tea for various health reason's plus the added benefit of weigh loss~!
230077230077B000WB1YSEA3VBVJN040HZZMS-mario2241307404800NiceI like this green tea. It is placed in special polyester tea bag, which makes brewing easy. The Kirkland logo should be enough guarantee for quality, at least for me (I am Big fan of Costco.)
230078230078B000WB1YSEAP61KAA6MEJJ8Vanilla Gorilla2241298419200Why the confusion?People seemed to be confused about the Matcha labeling. It's actually called Matcha blend, the tea in the bag is Sencha tea and the remaining powder in the bag after the tea bag is removed is the Matcha. According to the label, you sprinkle the Matcha powder on your tea after it is done steeping.

I'm no tea expert but it tastes pretty good to me and the price is right, as long as you buy it from Costco where it retails for around 12 dollars.
230079230079B000WB1YSEA36LB0RUGRC9GStheshonen88992251274745600Authentic Japanese Styled Green TeaI've been searching for green tea like the ones I drink in Japan and none have ever come close. Since this product is made by Ito En (largest distributor of green tea in Japan), it is pretty much exactly the same as the delicious bottled green tea in Japan. An amazing taste for such a low price :D

I make it with more than one tea bag per cup and I use water that it not too hot to touch on ones finger otherwise bitterness will be tasted. I would like more matcha powder per tea bag

230082230082B000WB1YSEA1PJNHNTLZ79XWAnn T. Rose "Food Fan"2251245801600The real thingHow can you tell this is good green tea? It's green when you make it, not brown like others I've tried. This is as close to Japanese green tea that you will ever find in a mainstream American market. Not exorbitantly priced either.
230083230083B000WB1YSEA33I1L0L4ND8T1Linda C. Taylor "Outdoor Dieva"2251238371200Unique BrewThe tea bags, brewing instructions, and flavor are unique. In just 30 seconds of brewing you get a great tasting green tea. This tea tastes good even without adding any sweetener.
230084230084B000WB1YSEA3DDPU56YD1R5UWindsors2251230076800DelightfulFirst off, let me say I was never a huge fan of green tea. I would drink it occasionally because "they" say I should. Bought this green tea because I read that it has more health benefits than Chinese green tea because it's not fermented like the Chinese teas are. I was pleasantly surprised. I use a little raw sugar in mine and truly enjoy it. Haven't been able to place what the taste reminds me of yet, the closest I come is it reminds me of a meadow. Anyway, brew a cup, take it with you to soak in a bath and enjoy.

=================================

If you drink green tea you can-
* Lower Cholesterol
* Increase Thermogenesis (the body's rate of burning calories)
* Enhance fat oxidation

Burns Fat Naturally
Green tea contains high concentrations of catechin polyphenols. These compounds work with other chemicals to intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis, where heat is created in the body by burning fuels such as fat. Drinking Japanese green tea regularly will increase your metabolism and help burn fat safely and naturally.

Lowers cholesterol and increases energy expenditure
Green tea also causes carbohydrates to be released slowly, preventing sharp increases in blood-insulin levels. This promotes the burning of fat.
The thermogenic effect was originally attributed to its caffeine content. However, green tea stimulates brown fat thermogenesis far greater than a comparable amount of pure caffeine. It appears that the catechin-polyphenols, in particular epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), and caffeine that naturally occur in green tea work synergistically to stimulate thermogenesis and augment and prolong sympathetic stimulation of thermogenesis. It has been shown to increase 24-hour energy expenditure and fat oxidation (caffeine only increases metabolism during the time you take it).

Weight is gained as excess sugars and fats are stored in the body as fat cells. Green tea catechins can help prevent obesity by inhibiting the movement of glucose in fat cells. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has been found to be especially effective. There is now good evidence that green tea catechins are related to reductions in body fat.
EGCG is a powerful antioxidant with positive qualities but a balanced diet and exercise, lots of it, are of paramount importance to any weight reduction program.

Green Tea and Weight Loss
=========================
by: Kathryn O'Neill

There's recently been a LOT in the weight loss news concerning green tea.
Green tea's weight loss effects have been causing more and more people to start sipping the ancient Chinese or Japanese brew.

But just how does green tea help you lose weight? And does it really work or is it all just hype? This article gives you the real facts about drinking green tea to lose weight.
Advantages of Drinking Green Tea for Weight Loss:

1) Green tea revs up your metabolism

A study reported on in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a metabolism `boost').
The researchers also concluded that that over a 24-hour period, green tea extract increases the metabolic rate by 4%. These effects are probably due to the high concentrations of catechin polyphenols found in green tea. These work to help intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis (the rate at which your body burns calories).

2) Green tea inhibits fat absorption and helps glucose regulation
Experts tell us that the catechins in green tea help to inhibit the movement of glucose into fat cells. Green tea may also act as al glucose regulator. It helps to slow the rise in blood sugar after a meal. This prevents high insulin spikes (lots of insulin promotes fat storage) and the subsequent fat storage.

3) Green tea may help reduce appetite
Scientists at the University of Chicago found that green tea caused rats to lose up to 21 percent of their body weight. Rats injected with a green tea extract lost their appetites and consumed up to 60 percent less food after seven days of daily injections. This may have something to do with the blood sugar regulating effects of green tea.

4) Green tea can help you save calories on your morning brew.
We are a nation hooked on our java. Be it the regular double-cream, double-sugar standard or that mocha, dappa, frappucinno, the calories we ingest just to get our morning caffeine is wreaking havoc on our waistlines.

If you want to save mega-calories in the morning but still get your caffeine fix, try substituting green tea for coffee. Or have a green tea in the afternoon instead of that 700 calorie mocha-chillate dream. You'll definitely notice the difference in your waistline after a few weeks.

So there are 4 ways that green tea can help you with weight loss. But how much do you actually have to drink to get these amazing metabolism boosting effects?

Experts vary but the general consensus seems to be that 3 - 5 cups of green tea per day is optimal. Doing this can help you burn an extra 70 calories per day which amounts to 7 pounds per year. Pretty good for not exercising or cutting calories, right?
However, 3 - 5 cups can be a lot for some people, so you might also want to consider green tea extract, green tea pills or a green tea patch.

Disadvantages of Drinking Green Tea For Weight Loss:
#1) Green tea is not a magic bullet
While some people will tell you that green tea is the be-all-end-all for weight loss success, I think the keyword here is balance. You're not going to eat 5000 calories a day, drink a cup of green tea and make it all go away - it just isn't going to happen. A healthy diet and increased exercise will go a long way in helping you lose weight and keep it off.
#2) Be cautious of the caffeine if you have health problems
For some people that have heart troubles, high blood pressure or stimulant sensitivities, the caffeine in green tea may not be the best idea. If you're worried about the caffeine from green tea, try taking green tea extract. Most green tea extract is made from decaffeinated green tea so you can still get the weight loss benefits without the caffeine.
If you think the caffeine may be a problem, make sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea for weight loss. Also make sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

*** Bottom Line ***: Green tea helps you with weight loss by boosting your metabolic rate, regulating your blood sugar, suppressing your appetite and giving you something else besides that high calorie, high sugar coffee beverage to drink in the morning. While it's not the magic bullet, it can definitely give you a boost in weight loss and in your overall health!

230087230087B000WB1YSEA16MZ9PUXO3Z9DElise (plt)4551240963200Taste to value ratio is fine, surprizingly good taste!I have never been a friend of tea in bags, but this one I really like.And only one tea I drink in bags without complaining.
(And I should add the bags are nice nylon and separately packaged). Of course if you drink the very expensive green Japanese loose teas,prepared in a traditional way, this one is of course not way such a great taste as expensive macha with bright green color.

But I am not such gourmet. Nor I have been in Japan. This one is good for me, nice taste, ( slightly dry green and has sweetness of rice), nice color. Of course the water can't be too hot, or bag shouldn't stay for longer than 30 sec.And water needs to be filtered for better taste,as water can spoil so much.
The price for the taste is in my opinion really good, and this one is my daily tea,it is not fancy, yet really good. This matcha is a blend, so, we don't know from which region it comes, is generic, but I don't mind.
Again, it is not a gourmet tea, and I gave five stars for being special in its class: inexpensive teas in bags. Also excellent tea to introduce green tea haters into drinking green ones. (Many people don't like certain aftertastes, this one is mellow enough and fresh tasting).
230088230088B000WB1YSEA1A0S9KP1TVY7Kaandromedaa1151345507200amazing teathis tea is amazing! It is packed perfectly from the outside shipping packaging to the small envelopes inside the box holding the individual tea bags. I would tell anyone to purchase this product, and to purcase ir through amazon!
230089230089B000WB1YSEA23ARHC4MYRDX2Jydemail1151344384000The Best Green Tea to me.As a Chinese who drank kinds of green tea, I highly recommend this tea for 2 reasons. 1, the tea is made of very famous and expensive green tea, which is called Dragon Well in China. This kind of tea smells very differently from other normal green tea. 2, the sealed plastic bag outside of each tea bag reserve the tea freshness and smell.
230090230090B000WB1YSEA37FXYX311KEL1shaun gannon1151343260800excellent for iced teawith two bags per large glass of ice water, letting them steep for four minutes, then removing the bags and dumping in the remaining matcha in the pouches, you have 50 drinks worth for ~27 dollars USD. all natural, too. that ain't bad.
230091230091B000WB1YSEA2BAZ3AUM997AKSKN "SKN"1131333324800Good green tea, but barely "Matcha"This is a good green tea, but only has a light sprinkling of matcha powder that you put in the tea after you have removed the tea bag. The tea bag is just normal green tea. For those looking for a pure matcha tea, than you would not like this. If just looking for a Japanese green tea, then this is fine. I got mine from Costco not from here, but same thing. Can't opine on the price.
230092230092B000WB1YSEAUQ81QKA9KQ7FBarbara A. Luna "deal finder"1151325203200I AM FINALLY A GREEN TEA LOVER!Green tea is suppose to be the best tea for you. I have tried many and just did not like them at all. Then I tried Republic of Tea Matcha Tea. Expensive but pretty good whenI brewed it WITH a black tea bag as well. But, I figured I was getting the green tea in there so better that way than not at all. I decided to check Amazon to see if I could get that tea cheaper and it is there that I found the reviews for this tea. I just got the box this week and I am so happy. I don't need to brew the black tea with it. It is GOOD! Very good. And a lot cheaper than Republic of Tea. (The price of this tea seems to fluctuate, though. It has actually dropped in price since I ordered it 4 days ago by $5.00. Wonder why?)
230093230093B000WB1YSEA1Y1L0JZOAZCL5Atech1151322784000Green tea tastes great!I bought this on amazon because I lack the Costco membership and time to drive to the nearest costco store in my area. I read the reviews and decided to try out this green tea. The green tea came out perfect when I followed the simple instructions on the back of each tea packet. The smell is very light and pleasant. The taste, in my opinion, was not too bitter and the tea came out just right after steeping for 30 seconds in hot water.

Overall I am happy with my purchase and if you can I would recommend buying this at the store because it may be cheaper (make sure to take into account the tax as well).

Cheers!

All the different ones Ive tried this one is by far the best! Def. worth buying and the amount you get for the price isnt so bad either. Oh and another great little thing about this tea is the teabags have a small hook on the end that fits perfectly on the rim of any cup!
230096230096B000WB1YSEA1W5MRP7VZ0OT9cs1131319673600Kirkland Green TeaThe box was packed in 2010 and best used before March 2012 - I wasn't aware of this when I ordered it. Even so, it's far superior to any other green teas I've bought, so I am going to keep it.
230097230097B000WB1YSEA1Q6YILIH82O26Psmom1151317945600Authentic Japanese green teaI spent 3+ decades of my life in Japan, and I drank lots of green tea including this Ito En brand. This Matcha (finely-milled green tea which is used for tea ceremony) blend is one of my favorites. The manufacturer advertises in Japanese that you can enjoy two cups of tea with one tea bag without losing the great taste and flavor, which I think is true. $12.99 for 100 bags is a very good deal for real Japanese green tea!
230098230098B000WB1YSEA1ALES8R8A7AYONick Campbell1151317600000Traveled a long way...well done.I am stationed in Afghanistan and quality foods and beverages can be difficult to come by. Being so close to Central Asia, my friends here know a thing or two about good green tea. Folks can't get enough, and considering the long shipping process through hot and cool temperatures, there is no change in the great taste. Thanks!!
230099230099B000WB1YSEA247NXHCCX2D7SMadhuri1151314748800It's really green!I just had my first cup, and I loved it! Anyone who has enjoyed hot green tea in Japanese restaurants and missed that actual bright green appearance and flavor in home tea bags, try these. Perfect!
230100230100B000WB1YSEA1MNILAY3860SCS. Ronnberg1141305676800Tastes great!I love the quantity and flavor of this tea. It's a little messy opening the pouches, the matcha can get all over your fingers and counter, but oh well. I purchase this at Costco, because the price is WAY better. My only complaint, is that I wish it were Organic.
